The National Cherry Blossom Festival Your RV Guide by MangoRV
If you’re looking for someplace floral and vibrant to visit this Spring, then here’s your RV guide to the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C.
About The National Cherry Blossom Festival
The Cherry Blossom Trees were gifted by Tokyo’s Mayor, Yukio Ozaki, to the nation’s capitol in 1912. The 2022 festival marks the 110th anniversary of the gift of trees as well as a tribute to the longstanding friendship between Japan and the United States.
Beginning March 20 to April 17 the festival will be taking place for four weeks. The festival will have many activities including signature events like the Opening Ceremony, National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, the Blossom Kite Festival, Petalpalooza, the Tidal Basin Welcome Area and a Pink Tie Dinner Party.
Tickets, admission and health safety information
Many of the events are in-person, virtual and accessible for those who wish to celebrate from home. Events like the Petalpalooza are free and open to the public while the Parade requires tickets for entry. To ensure the public’s health and safety, The National Cherry Blossom Festival will adhere to local and federal health requirements. Be prepared to provide proof of vaccination and carry face coverings to comply with masking protocols when needed.
Rving to the Cherry Blossom Festival
If you want to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy a luxury vacation on wheels, then visiting the nation’s capitol in an RV is the best option that gives you the most privacy, peace of mind and freedom you need to get around.
This spring MangoRV has some of the lowest rates for luxury RV rentals. Most of the RVs are easy to drive, have excellent gas mileage and have beautiful full body paint. The Class C models are great for groups of four to eight people. They are spacious and come fully loaded offering a slide out, overhead cabin, dinette, fridge, microwave and smart TV.
To book one of these rides is fairly easy. Simply view the RV catalog, select a vehicle, enter the travel dates then request a quote. Once your request is approved you can complete your reservation and obtain renters insurance with roadside assistance. The 24/7 customer service team is available to guide you through the process and answer your questions.
With the festival attracting many out-of-towners, hotel and car rental rates are quite competitive and can be a hassle. Since rates within the city are usually higher than normal some people opt for accommodations like airbnb or campgrounds outside the city.
Staying at Cherry Hill Park and Parking at Union Station
Speaking of right outside the city, Cherry Hill Park is the closest campground just minutes away from the capitol and is known for its premium RV sites and amazing amenities.
The RV sites include:
- full hook-ups with different options
- 30/50 amp electric
- sewer and water
- free cable TV
- free Wifi
- outdoor picnic table
- a fire ring
- plus access to all of the resort-style amenities
To find out the perfect site for you, you can view their map and site guide. Some of their services include a shuttle service directly into downtown DC that runs Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm at $15 per person. Parking lot options are also available on a first come first serve basis at Union Station or other campgrounds further out from the city.
